October 29th -- Meeting #3

Tonight's meeting was all about learning about the founder of Girl Scouts... Juliette Gordon Low! Since Juliette's birthday is on October 31, we thought it would be a great idea to turn our troop meeting into a birthday party in honor of her!

We started the meeting with a crossword puzzle filled with fun facts about Juliette Gordon Low... did you know her nickname was "Daisy"?! That's how the name of the youngest Girl Scouts came about! We also figured out that if Juliette Low was still alive today, she would be turning 149 years old on her birthday!! WOW!!

But what's a birthday party without presents, cake, and games??! Of course, we had all that stuff, too! Each of the Girl Scouts brought a "gift" for Juliette Low in the form of a canned food or non-perishable item to be donated to the local Food Pantry. This will be part of our community service project. We also made sure to play games such as Pin the Tail on the Donkey and Musical Chairs!! We wrapped up the "party" with cake and punch!! I think if Juliette had actually been able to be there, she would have had a blast!! Looking forward to the next meeting in November! Hope to see everyone there!

Here are some pics from our party:

This money will be used to help cover costs of supplies, etc. for our meetings! Any extra money will go towards something "fun", such as a trip or party! Way to go, Troop #273!! WOOT! WOOT!
