Cookie orders will need to be turned in on Monday, February 2 between 6pm - 8pm at Gay Parker's house -- 2809 S. Glass St. Thank you!!

Cookies will be delivered on Saturday, March 7 @ Mater Dei. The time is TBA, but cookies must be picked up at this location on this day!!

The Girl Scouts will have two weeks to deliver their cookies and collect money. Money wll need to be turned in to the leader on March 23.

Spring Recruitment Event

This year's Spring Recruitment event will be at the new Siouxland Y!! Come and enjoy lots of swimming and gym fun! The date for this event is tentatively scheduled for April 18th. The cost will be $6.00 per girl... however, if you sell 100 or more boxes of cookies, the troop will pay your way for this event! SELL!! SELL!! SELL!!

Super Market Saturday -- February 7

Super Market Saturday is a community service project where Girl Scouts greet patrons at the entrance of the Gordon Drive Hy-Vee grocery store and give the customers a slip of paper asking them to consider a donation of a canned food item for the Food Bank. The Girl Scouts will also collect any items the customer may have bought to be donated when the customer is on the way out of the store. Girl Scouts that participate will earn a patch!! Each troop gets a one-hour shift... our Troop 273 shift time is from 2pm - 3pm. We will split our shift into 1/2 hour shifts and will need 4-5 girls to sign up for each 1/2 hour. Please sign up now!! Call Gay and leave a message at 276-1190.

All "Try-Its" badges will be given to the Girl Scouts during our big ceremony at the end of the year! The main thing while earning our "Try-Its" is to have FUN!! EXPERIMENT! EXPLORE! LEARN! That is what try-its and Girl Scouts are all about!!

January 22 -- Time to Cook!!

Tonight we got to try two recipes out of our cookbooks we put together at the last meeting!! We chose "Pizza Snacks" and "Chocolate Non-Bakers" -- the delicious no-bake cookie!!

First, we split into two groups... one group got to make their own pizzas and the second group got to help measure ingredients for the cookies. Then the groups switched places and the first group got to stir the ingredients for the cookies and spoon them out onto wax paper while the second group made their individual pizzas!!

Both snacks got A+ ratings from each of the girl scouts!!! Check out the pics!!

*All troops need to participate; we will receive cookie materials, order cards, etc.

*Parents come between 6:45PM - 7:15PM to sign the parental permission slips

and listen to the "Pep Talk"!

*Girls can come dressed up! We will have a Horse/Western/Cowgirl theme!

January 8 -- Recipes and More!!

Tonight we compiled all the recipes that were brought in by the girl scouts and made recipe books! These books were a blast and turned out so AWESOME!! Each girl scout was given a folder to decorate -- they used pictures and letters from magazines to decorate the front of their "recipe book" and had so much fun doing it that we almost ran out of time to put the recipes inside!! Each girl scout got to take their recipe book home with them, so ask them if you can see it and check out the wonderful recipes in there!! Next meeting, we are going to make two of those recipes in our meeting!! YUMMY!! Girl Scouts -- you will want to make sure you are there so you can sample the goodies!!

Happy New Year to all the Girl Scouts and their families!! Hope the holidays were wonderful for everyone!! We are excited to get back to meetings and look forward to all the exciting things we will be doing!! An update of "Upcoming Events" will be posted soon!!
